Learn From a Real Shaolin Master

Master Wang (Dharma name Shi Xing Long) is a 32nd-generation disciple of the Shaolin Temple with over three decades of martial arts training and teaching experience.

His wealth of experience will be fully available to all participants, each of whom will receive personal feedback and instruction from him within the small group setting of the retreats.

Shaolin Retreat

August 3rd to 10th

Total price: €1,489.50

This price includes the retreat fee (€800) and the hotel (€689.50), each paid separately.

Those who book both the Tai Chi and Shaolin retreat will recieve a €200 total discount (€2,779 for both retreats all included).

This one-week retreat is perfect for those interested in exploring Shaolin Kung Fu within a small, focused group setting. Participants will focus on learning the traditional Shaolin style Qi Xing Quan (Seven Star Boxing) as a group, including the understanding the form's applications, theory and key principles, alongside classes on Shaolin Kung Fu theory, flexibility and conditioning.

The content taught will be suitable for both beginners who want to begin their Shaolin journey and experienced practitioners who are looking to gain deeper insight into this core Shaolin set. Everyone is welcome; Master Wang will guide each student according to their level and physical capabilities.

Tai Chi Retreat

August 12th to 19th

Total price: €1,489.50

This one-week course is ideal for those looking for slower, health-focused training. All participants will have the chance to learn both Yang​ Style Tai Chi 13 (a slow, meditative form of martial arts) and the Qigong set Yijinjing (a series of traditional health-preserving exercises).

As with the Shaolin retreat, we welcome participants of all levels of experience; Master Wang will teach according to the individual level of all students.

Accommodation

Accommodation for both retreats is Forest Hotel Vivec, located in Pohorje Village just outside the city of Maribor, Slovenia.

 

Rooms are private and include an en-suite toilet and shower, whilst training takes place in the nature surrounding the hotel. In the event of rain, we have arranged an indoor training space with the hotel as well.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided each day by the hotel, and are all buffet-style. Diets such as vegan, vegetarian and halal can be accommodated; please inform the hotel if you have any dietary requirements when making your booking.

All hotel bookings must be done directly through the hotel website; when making your reservation, please specify that you will be participating in the Xinglong Kung Fu retreats, as this will provide you with a discount on your booking. Students are also responsible for their arrival to and departure from the hotel; for directions and travel advice, please feel free to contact us or the hotel.

How do I get to the retreat?

The hotel is just a short drive outside of the city of Maribor, which has regular intercity buses running from companies such as FlixBus. Upon arriving at the Maribor bus station, transfer to the no. 6 city bus, which will take you to the Pohorje gondola station, where you can take the gondola to the hotel at the top of the mountain.

How do I book?

Booking for the retreat should be done via the form at the bottom of this page. Booking for the hotel should be made directly with the hotel via their website. When booking, please ensure you mention that you are attending as a participant of our retreats, as this will get you a discounted price.​

Can I book a shared room with friends or family?

Yes! Shared rooms are also available for those who are attending with a partner or friend. Please ask the hotel for full details on available rooms when booking with them!

Terms and Conditions

Students who apply for our training retreats accept that:

1) Each retreat requires a minimum of five students to take place. Although we expect to meet this number, should fewer than five students sign up for either retreat by July 10th, the retreat will be cancelled. In this case, we will provide immediate notice to all participants and issue full refunds.

2) We take providing a safe environment for all participants seriously. This includes making safe food, training and travel arrangements and doing our best to accommodate individual student needs at all times. However, we are not liable for any sickness, injuries etc that participants encounter before, during or after the retreat, and we recommend that all students take out travel insurance for their trip to cover such eventualities.

3) If participants wish to cancel their place on the retreat, full hotel refunds will be issued, provided the cancellation is made more than 15 days prior to arrival. However, the reservation fee for the retreat is non-refundable (except in the event of retreat cancellation due to lack of participants, as mentioned above).

4) All participants must be respectful and polite to each other, Master Wang, and members of the public during the retreat. We want to create an environment conducive to learning and personal growth for all involved. We reserve the right to dismiss participants from the retreat without refund if they are caught bullying, fighting, or engaging in antisocial behaviour.

5) Smoking, drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited during the retreat.
