Understand Core Shaolin Theory
Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu is built around key principles such as the Six Harmonies, Five Elements, Four Extremities, Three Sections and Yin and Yang. Understanding and implementing these is essential to practising Shaolin Kung Fu at a high level.
This course will address what these concepts are, how they relate to training, and how to integrate them into your practice through a step-by-step approach. With over three years of time spent living in China training and researching Shaolin Kung Fu, Jony bridges the gap between these abstract Chinese concepts and an English-speaking audience. The course will teach crucial insights into the theoretical basis for Shaolin martial arts as well as rare traditional skill development drills, offering a unique learning opportunity for Shaolin Kung Fu practitioners interested in deepening their understanding of traditional training.
This course consists of 9 one-hour live Zoom sessions within a small group setting, with additional learning videos and reference material sent at the end of each class to help students maintain their training outside of class. Participants should have experience with Shaolin Kung Fu basics before beginning; for absolute beginners interested in taking part, we suggest taking some classes from our free Shaolin basics programme before joining the course.
